I have a slight problem. I am selling my iMac, and I need to wipe the HD clean. The problem is...my CD/DVD drive is broke. I never got it fixed, due to lack of use. The only way i know to erase my HD is to reinstall the Install disks. Can I erase without using the drive? Is there a way to really "erase" it another route?

Your info says you have Lion, 10.7.5...is that what came on the machine or did it come with Snow Leopard, 10.6? If SL you will have to borrow an external drive to boot from to wipe the internal drive...the user license for Lion is not transferable.
Actually the iMac I am getting rid of, is running 10.5.8. The install disks are from 10.4.7

Not when booted from the startup disk...Disk Utility will not permit you to run repair disk or erase disk from the startup disk itself. You must be booted to another disk to erase a disk.

Borrow an external DVD reader and boot from it with one of the system disks you have...you can use the Leopard, 10.5, but you will then have to include it with the machine to avoid liecnse violation.

Yes, like you were booting from the CD drive, hold the C key down.
