Mar 2, 2013 1:21 PM in response to Siany86by Demo,If you share an Apple ID with your dad, you need to use a different contact address on one of the devices in order to FaceTime with him. I have 3 devices using the same ID on all of them and I can Message and FaceTime with all of them.

as soon as I posted I saw your response.
You do know that your dad has to be setup and registered to use FaceTime on his iPhone before you can contact home - correct?

Mar 2, 2013 1:25 PM in response to Demoby Siany86,Yes! But my dad has used his FaceTime successfully before so surely he must be setup?
I have done all the things I've read about with FaceTime problems but nothing is working. I don't recall receiving an email to verify my email address for FaceTime though.

Mar 2, 2013 1:29 PM in response to Siany86by Demo,Then that is important to know. That may be the problem.
Turn off FacetIme in the settings. Sign out of your Apple ID (you are using your Apple ID for FaceTime - correct?) Reboot your iPad and then turn FacetIme on again, and trying signing in again.

Mar 2, 2013 1:42 PM in response to Demoby Siany86,I've tried that, still no joy. :-(
My friend said something about checking by sending a text from my iPad to my dads iPhone and if my sent message is blue instead of green then the other person is registered correctly?
How do I send a text from this thing?
I'm so confused

Mar 2, 2013 1:46 PM in response to Siany86by Demo,You have to use the Messages app for that and you set it up basically the same way that you set up FaceTime.
What happens when you try to FaceTime with your dad? Can he contact you via FaceTime?

Mar 2, 2013 1:46 PM in response to Siany86by Siany86,I've worked out how to send a message but its saying not delivered...

Mar 2, 2013 1:47 PM in response to Demoby Siany86,We've both tried to FaceTime each other! When he calls me it rings at his end but nothing my end and when I try to call him nothing happens at all! It just clears and says connection lost
-
Mar 2, 2013 2:09 PM in response to Siany86by Demo,Usually "not delivered" means that the other user is unavailable (device turned off) or hasn't set up messages on his or her device.
I'm not sure what else to try. When you go into the FaceTime settings do you see your email address listed under "you can be reached by FaceTime at"? If you do see it there, does it have a checkmark next to it? If not, then FaceTime has not been set up correctly.
