I'm wondering if you can create separate user profiles on any of the apple devices, but primarly the iPad. Ideally, I would like one profile for adults/parents and one for our kids? Is this possible and if so can someone please walk me through step by step on how to do this?

iOS does not support multiple accounts. Mac OS X (for Apple computers) does. On iOS devices like the iPad, go to Settings > General > Restrictions, and you can restrict what your kids can do on it.
Unfortunately the ipad, and all of the apple mobile devices are single user.
There are some options in restrictions if you want to block some content.
go to settings/general/restrictions
you can also set up a passcode on the device itself
this is not possible on an iPad.
