When I am charging my Macbook the charger gets extremely hot. So hot that inside the charger port there is a black ring like it has been burnt. Can anyone help me with what is causing this?

It sounds like you have a possible hardware fault. Contact Apple using www.apple.com/support/contact if you are in a country that supports it or call the appropriate phone number on this page. Alternatively carry the MacBook in to an Apple retail store or service provider to ask for an estimate.
