battery 0% but can not be charged

My Macbook's battery can't be charged. The connector always shows green light and battery meter always shows 0%. I don't know whether it's battery issue or the interface of the power connector to the Macbook is the root cause. So far I can't power up my Macbook without the connector hooked up to external AC power, but the battery is not charged anyhow.
