iphone not visible on windows

I have WIndows 7 64 bit. I have connected my iphone 4 OS 6 to my laptop via an Apple USB cable. Supposedly the iphone should appear in "My COmputer" as a drive option so that I can browse to it. However it is not there.

Please advise what I can do to get it to appear?

I have iTunes 11 installed.

First, follow the guidelines in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923. There may be a component corrupted within iTunes and its associating programs and drivers.
