"Other" is taking up half the space on my iphone!

"Other" is taking up half the space on my iphone!

In my storage space, "other" is taking up 6.5 GB of my space? Is there any way to get rid of this besides restoring my phone and/or using an outside program?

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.2

You will need to restore.

If restoring from backup does not solve, then restore as new.

are there any lesser things that may help to reduce some of the other data? I have had bad experiences with restores and backups in the past and i do not want to risk losing all my data again!

This much other indicates corrupt files. You will need to restore.

Sorry.

You should not lose anything. Everything should be on your computer. If it is not, then put it there before restoring.
