much smaller reverse telecine file

I have a film clip in Quicktime format, 9.2 gig. When I reverse telecine it in Compressor the file is now 1.84 gig. I understand that file size would be reduced by the process, but I'm surprised it's so much. I want to make sure that I'm not doing something wrong that reduces quality.
