iTunes of your computer has it stored.

  1. Open iTunes.
  2. Open Preferences. (In Mac OS X, choose iTunes > Preferences. In Windows, choose Edit > Preferences.)
  3. Click the Devices tab.
  4. Position the mouse over a backup to display the serial number of the backed-up device. iPhone and cellular iPad models also display the IMEI/MEID and Cellular Data Number.

Probably too late, but this just helped me:

How can I find / look up my iPad serial number?

You can easily find your iPad serial number (S/N). If you have a Wi-Fi + 3G model, you can also look up your International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number and ICCID. Follow these steps to get this information:

If your iPad is working properly:

1. Navigate to Settings -> General -> About
2. The Serial Number, IMEI and ICCID are listed towards the bottom of the page, along with other information.

If your iPad will not turn on or boot properly:

Your serial number and IMEI are both printed on the barcode label that's affixed to your iPad packaging.

If you don't have your iPad packaging:

1. Run iTunes on your computer
2. Hold down the Control key and on the menu bar of the Mac click iTunes -> About iTunes. On Windows computers hold down the Control key and click Help -> About iTunes.
3. When your iPad serial number (S/N) appears in the dialog box press the space bar to stop scrolling.

Note: iTunes 9 lists the iPad S/N next to "iPod"

If you don't have access to the phone, you may have a backup from iTunes that we can use to pull out the IMEI number. I am one of the developers for a program called Decipher Backup Browser -- we built the ability to view the IMEI number in the backps into our free trial (for folks in this exact predicament!) If you want to give it a try, you can download the free trial of our program here:

If you want to read a little bit more about doing this, you can also read this blog post I wrote about it here:
