I have been using Siri for about 8 months now. Every time I dictate my son's name (Aidan), she spells it Aiden. I manually correct it every time but she keeps making the same mistake over and over. Is there some way to train Siri to spell his name correctly?
This didn't work for me either. In my case Siri has spelled Neal as Neil for over a year. I thought that with enough corrections, which have been every single one since I don't know any "Neils", the system learns - but this must not be the case. I am invested in an answer too!

Open the contact for this person, press the Edit button, scroll to the bottom and press "+" next to Add Field, select Phonetic First Name. Here type in the spelling that Siri is using (Aiden), Press the Done button and try Siri again.
Teaching Siri how to spell names correctly......I just figured this out! My son's name is spelled Zach...and NOT Zack as Siri likes to do...here's how. Open the contact for this person, press the Edit button, scroll to the bottom and press "+" next to Add Field, select Nick-Name. Here type in the spelling that you WANT Siri to use , Press the Done button and try Siri again. |
Seems like most responders are misunderstanding your inquiry. My son's name is Reid, so I have the same issue. Siri is particularly stubborn on this point. The only way I could find to make Siri consistently spell his name correctly during a dictated message was to edit his contact first name in the address book. Put the name in question in quotes., i.e., Reid is now "Reid". When using Siri, the only glitch is that it will display the name with the quotes. For other issues related to iPhone changing the name (meaning everything else not spoken to Siri), I added his nickname in contacts as Reid and I also added a shortcut (Settings, General, Keyboard, Text Replacement), meaning every time the name Reed appears it'll automatically be changed to Reid. For some unexplainable reason though that doesn't apply to Siri. In the past, when dictating to Siri I could see Reid briefly show up before it was changed to Reed even after adding nicknames and a shortcut. By changing his name to "Reid" in contacts, I may have to look at " " each time I dictate his name but at least it's spelled correctly. Just to be clear, by using this method, the only time you'll have to look at the person's name in quotes is when you are dictating to Siri. If all these other steps are applied, the name will be auto-corrected seamlessly, such as in a typed message.

Tell siri "call me Aiden", when it responds tap on the text and change it to the correct form
