I keep getting screen remnants left by spotlight that will not disappear until I restart the computer.

As in the title, I am getting annoying screen remnants.

They are completely inert, always on top and nothing behind them is functional.

Any idea why I should get them or a easy way of getting rid of them?

Resetting PRAM may help.

Do these disappear if you change the resolution of your display (do this in the Displays system preferences)?
