How do I modify an iMovie template?

I'm working with iMovie for the first time and found a template that's perfect for what i need, except that the movie clip durations are too slow, and there aren't enough segments.

Could anyone teach me how to:

-Lengthen a templated clip placeholder?

-Add a section (copy and paste and existing section, so to speak)

Thanks,

Ri

You could convert the Trailer to a standard project format. This allows you to edit the Trailer to your own liking, BUT you will lose the synchronization with the music if you extend or shorten clips, or add extra clips. The templates are designed to generally match up with the music beats, and finish precisely at the same time as the music.

To convert a Trailer, from iMovie's menu select "File > Convert to Project". It's best to firstly create a duplicate, then use the duplicate for the conversion. In Project Library view, select "File > Duplicate Project" and rename as required (it will initially have the same name as the original, but with a number appended).
