Can I set up different beats and chords on garageband and control it by my midi piano accordion using the Alesis io dock?

I have a piano accordion with midi, basically its the same as a keyboard. I want to know if I can set up different beats, waltz, quickstep etc on garage band, say for example a drum and guitar sound and then control it with my accordion. Ive come across Alesis io dock online https://www.alesis.com/iodock which I has the midi connections to connect my accrdion to it. Will this work as i hope it will? Also whats the best site to learn to set up garageband properly for what I want to do?

Are you talking about using your midi accordian to make garageband act like a casio keyboard?

More or less I suppose. Currently what I use is a Ketron XD3 expander. I have beats and sounds programmed into it which i can control from the accordion. In other words I can change guitar chords etc from the bass side of the accordion and play different instrument sounds from the keyboard side. However its a big enough item for carrying around. If I could set up garage band or indeed any other app to do the same thing, it would be so much easier. The Alesis io dock has the midi in and out connections I need to be able to connect the accordion, but Im not sure if it works as I hope it will.

Well firstly it's mainly Irish and country music I play. I want to be as to set up a drum beat in say for example a waltz. I also want to have a guitar strumming in it and be able to change the chords of the guitar from the bass of the accordion. That's what I can currently do using my Ketron XD3. Does this make sense?
