my airplay icon no longer appears in the recently used icons menu (double quick and swipe twice to the left)

Question

my airplay icon no longer appears in the recently used icons menu (double quick and swipe twice to the left)

It worked fine before all the updates, now the icon just wont appear. I can go on itunes and airplay from there, but I cant mirror anymore

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.2, It worked before the updates.

Welcome to the Apple Community.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.

Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router.
Restart your mobile device.

I was able to view videos on the tv with the airplaybutton on the video. But the airplaybutton on doubleclick&swipe left, was gone. Couldnt mirror my screen. Restarting my ipad (holding both buttons for a few seconds) fixed the problem. :-)
