The app itself is in no way related to the photos. Photos in your iPhoto Library will remain on the hard drive, though of course they will not be easily accessible without iPhoto.

What problem are you having that is prompting you to ask about this? Whatever it is, I imagine there's a better solution than deleting iPhoto.

I have tryed to update iphoto. I get the feed back to go to the place I purchased the Ilife combo. all suggestions have refered me back to update where I purchased the program. Mac store Itunes etc nothing works. I have down loaded the update file several times but will not let me update. I purchased the program from Best Buy several years ago and this problem started about 3 months ago. when apple recalled the Hard drive and installed a new Hard Drive. My thoughts were to remove Iphoto app. and then rebuy the program via app store. ????????

Thanks for your reply. What do you suggest??

Thanks,

Ron

Iphoto is 9.3.2 on my Mac. It shows that the up date is 9.4 when I run update and then when I click up date it will not update as it tels me to go to the account that I purchased it in. ??? I get this pop up when I try ITunes and Mac store. I have been able to down the new app (9.4.? from the app store but it will not open the app asit agains tells me to go to the account I Purchased it From.

So I can not open the Update 9.4.2 That is why I was going to remove the 9.3.2 app and rebuy the 9.4.2 app

Do you have another suggestion?

I'v been dealing with this off and on for several months. What I have been doing over and over is a waste of time. I like the program but I could just go to Adobe Photoshop 11 ???

Thanks

Ron

Ahh, that missing information is key to the solution! App Store purchases are irreversibly associated with the Apple ID you purchased them with. You bought iPhoto using a different Apple ID than the one you are currently logged in to the App Store with. You need to open the App Store, then sign out of whatever account you have signed in in the App Store, then sign in with the correct Apple ID.
