Safari isn't saving the passwords within Safari, they are saved in your keychain. You can view the keychain in Keychain Access (Utilities folder).

Select your login keychain and All Items, then search for the web address. Double-click the keychain and click the Show Password checkbox. It will ask for your password and whether you want to just see it this time, or any time you check.
