Up until version 11 I was able to print gift cards. Now
I cannot find that feature. The only obvious option is to email
the card which has two annoying drawbacks
1) I could mis-type the email
2) It can take up to 24 hours for the email to show up.

My solution is to gift it to myself. The email sent from iTunes contains a link to the iTunes store and that link contains the redemption code
e.g. https://buy.itunes.apple.com/.../freeProductCodeWizard?code=XXXXXXXXXXXX&mt=1
Don't click on the link or you might redeem it for yourself. Just mouse over it to display the address. Then give that code to someone to redeem.
Sorry, but the ability to print a physical gift certificate was apparently removed at the same time as iTunes 11 was released. The only way to send a physical gift now is to purchase and mail an iTunes card.

This has frustrated me to no end. What is the rationale behind this - I cannot understand why iTunes would remove a feature instead of giving users an option to choose either. My fiancee and I are making personalised gift cards to download certain tracks of music we love as wedding favours, and instead of including a download code on the card, I now have to bit.ly all the download links. Exceedingly tedious!
