How do I import my Yahoo! Contacts to my iCloud Contacts?

I have a Yahoo! mail account with many Contacts. I have started using the iCloud Contacts and noticed that there are many more contacts when I view them from my iPhone 5 Contacts app than I see what I view my Contacts from the iCloud Contacts site. I see that the Groups on my iPhone Contacts include my Yahoo! Contacts. I do not see the same option to include my Yahoo! Contacts when I am in my iCloud Contacts webpage. I tried to export a VCard from Yahoo! Contacts but received an error message after trying to import it into my iCloud Contacts. Looking for a simple, quick way to see my Yahoo! Contacts when viewing my contacts on iCloud. Thank you.

iCloud won't sync your Yahoo contacts. You would have to add them to your iCloud contacts to sync them with iCloud. Sometimes this can be done with an app like Speed Names, which can move contacts between groups. Another option is to copy or move them to the iCloud group using a contact managment program on your computer that is syncing with both.

Another option would be to do the following:

  1. Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, when prompted choose Delete from My iPhone (only deletes them from your phone, not from iCloud).
  2. Download and use the app My Contacts Backup to back up the Yahoo contacts still on your phone as an attachment to an email. Send the email to yourself.
  3. Turn off contact syncing with Yahoo in Settings.
  4. Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On to sync back your iCloud contacts.
  5. Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section) and set this to iCloud.
  6. Open the email you sent earlier and tap the attachment to add the Yahoo contacts to iCloud.
