You have setup Yahoo (on your Mac) incorrectly.

Remove the account and start again, choose Imap as the account type, POP is only for 'On Your Mac'

PS

Before removing the account check Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Mailbox Behaviors, 'Store Sent Messages on the Server' must be checked. If that option does not exist remove the account and start again, as I posted above.

Thanks for this. However it was on IMAP before but I have removed the account and started again, and also ensured that the store messages on server box is ticked. Then sent a test message and although it was on my mac in the mailboxes sent folder (not in the on my mac folder) it was still not showing in the sent folder on my ipad or iphone.

Any other suggestions?

Ok it's in all the inboxes but none of the send folders - not even on the mac both under mailboxes or "on my mac". So looks like there is a problem with it showing all sent messages

You are making assumptions, let's slow down.

Forget On My Mac, it's not where Yahoo mail should be.

The next step is to check that the account is setup as Imap on every device, any one (if set as POP) can mess it up for all 3.

Summary, all 3 MUST be set as Imap and all 3 MUST save sent messages on server.

Yahoo! SMTP Server

Noticed now that all my sent messages on all devices have appeared in a new folder called sent under the yahoo.co.uk folder list.

Look thanks for your help but i need to call it a day - extremely frustrating - thought Apple was better was this. In all my years of being with Windows i never experienced such problems. Really regretting the switch! Sorry if that annoys Apple fans! You'd think with 100 billion on their balance sheet in cash that this wouldn't happen!!

I'll ask at the shop when next in town
