how can I get my music from my iPod touch version 4.2 to the cloud so I can listen to it on my iPad or computer? I tried a manual transfer from iTunes but that doesn't work.

Open itunes, connect ipod, click File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
- For iTunes purchases:

In iTunes 11 use Control+B to show the Menu bar then go to iTunes>File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
