HI,
Pendantic moment.
Both apps are called Messages on Mac and on iOS devices.
iMessages is just one thing the Mac version can do (it can do everything iChat can do) and the iOS device just uses iMessages when talking to compatible/registered IDs or iPhone Numbers (It will send SMS if not).
Anyway.
An iPhone and the iMessage function at least.
Actually if the App was not working properly before an Update the chances are it will be the same afterwards.
Try this.
On the iPhone > Settings > Messages > Send and Receive remove the Apple ID you are using.
Is the iPhone Number itself ticked ?
If not then place back in Airplane mode for a couple of minutes. (Break with server)
Now start up the iPhone again and try and select the iPhone Number if it still is not ticked in Settings > Messages > Send and Receive.
If the tick is added or gets added then re-add the Apple ID you are using.
At this point any other iOS device using the same Apple ID and/Or the Mac version of the app should have a pop up message about the iPhone using the Apple ID and Phone Number.
