Will Time Machine backup software so that it will restore and be functional, in case something happens to my MacBook?

I no longer have my CDs for Photoshop CS5 or Microsoft Office. Will Time Machine back up this software so that it will restore and be functional in case something happens to my MacBook?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Time Machine may be useful to restore other type of software, but not Photoshop or Microsoft Office, if you only want to restore the app without restoring other data.

That's because Office and Photoshop needs some system files that can't be recovered just recovering the app, so you won't be able to open those applications after restoring them. The only workaround for this is to use Migration Assistant to restore the applications

mende1,

Thank you for your quick reply. And for this information.

It is a big help to know that I need to go to another utility to solve this problem...now I just have to get these 2 computers to see each other, at which, I have yet to be successful...but I will persevere!!

I do have another question for you:

In migrating the information, it is not removed from the source computer, is it? I want those programs to stay on the MacBook, which is where I always use them.

Since I don't have the CDs, I don't want to mess this up and lose the use of the programs altogether!!

Thanks again!!

Jude
