Q: Syncing calendars in an ipod touch.

There is nothing to click.  I plug in my ipod, go to info, and where it says, "Sync Calendars," it says, "Your calendars are being synced with your ipod touch over the air.  Over the air setting can be changed in your ipod touch."  When I go to settings in my ipod touch, there is nothing that says over the air.  When I tap on settings and then calendars, I tell it to sync everything, and nothing gets sync'ed.  I cannot delete either the information on my computer or the information my ipod and re-start either device. 

It has iCloud, but I don't know how to access it on either my machine or on my ipod. 

You're going to have to get a lot more specific than that.  How would I get into Mountain Lion.  I guessed as to what my operating system was.  I don't know how to find my OS on a Mac.  Sorry.  Please feel free to talk to me like you're talking to a six-year old, or younger.
