Q: How to Switch from Client Mode to Extended Wi-Fi on Airport Express?

I have a Cisco modem/wireless router as my primary source for wireless in my home.  A while back, I bought an Airport Express and configured it in client mode so I could use airplay to send audio via the Express to my stereo.  This works fine, but I don't need that facility any longer, so I would like to use the Airport Express to extend my wireles signal to places in my home that are a bit far from the Cisco router.  Do Ineed to reset the AE to original settings?  How do I change the configuration using the Airport Utility? Do I need to reset the AE to original settings first?

Incidentally, the reason I need this is that I just bought an Pad Mini and I find it does not pick up the wireless signal nearly as well as my MacBook or iPod Touch - but I guess that's another discussion altogether.

Apple's "extend" feature was designed to only work with other Apple routers, so it is extremely unlikely that it will perform this service with a Cisco router.

No harm in trying, though. After a few error messages, you will know that the products are not compatible for this purpose.

You did not tell us what version of AirPort Utility you were using, so we can't really provide any more details on the configuration.  Open AirPort Utility, click the AirPort Utility menu in the upper left corner of the screen and click About AirPort Utility. Post back with the Version number that you see there.
