Late 2008 MBP can't run Aperture. I have 4GB memory and 1GB storage available. Are there any options other than buying a new MBP?

I have a late 2008 MBP with 4GB RAM. Of 250GB storage, I have 96GB available. (2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor) When I launch

only Aperture, there is a bit less than 2GB memory available. Just added Aperature which freezes and opens on its own when the laptop is left idle. Problems started when I tried to post a picture to Facebook. Aperature froze with message that there was a problem with the Facebook connection. I would like to keep using this MBP rather than buying new. Any suggestions of upgrades to current MBP, or strategy of using Aperture successfully? Sure would appreciate some help!!!

MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2008), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

You write you have only 1Gb storage on title and in text you write 96GB, which looks more real.

If you use Aperture this means you have a lot of pictures. Are they stored inside Aperture on on external drive (referenced). Moving the photos to an external drive could be a way to recover some storage.

According to specification http://www.apple.com/it/aperture/specs/ you need OSX 10.7.4. Do you have it ?

Thanks for the points Sue.

With 8GB will be a different music. And if you move the picture to an external drive you will recover a lot of free space on the internal drive.

I do not know how deep you know Aperture; therfore I beg your pardof if I say something obvious.

Picture on external drive and not inside Aperture means "Referenced" insted of "managed".

This will not be as simple as a copy and past.

You will find something here : https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3399674?answerId=16410418022#16410418022

And after do not forget to make a second Hard Disc with another copy as a backup.

Happy picture taking !!!
