"No Child Processes"

Hi all...

I just had to format my iBook G4. I got tiger re-installed and everything and it now has some problems.

Whenever I try to open a disk image to install something, it says "No child processes" and fails to mount the image.

So I tryed system update, and it cant install most of the lager installs (iTunes, Quicktime) but its still okay with small driver like files (java, itunes phone driver,etc.)

Does anyone have any idea what's causing this? or how I can fix it?

Repair Disk Permissions with Disk Utility and see if that helps to get the updates installed.

That sorta helped... The installer got to "Configuring Install" and then stopped due to an unexpected error. I wish I knew what that error is.

I tried to open a disk-image (iTunes) and it still give me the message "No Child Processes"

I am wondering if this could be due to some corruption of the filesystem. To check for this, you could boot from your install CD and use Disk Utility to attempt a repair of your harddrive. There are instructions here:
Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption. See the section called "Repair Disk".

Nope that still didnt work. It came up saying "No Repairs Were Needed"

I'm stumped.
