"No Child Processes"

Hi all...

I just had to format my iBook G4. I got tiger re-installed and everything and it now has some problems.

Whenever I try to open a disk image to install something, it says "No child processes" and fails to mount the image.

So I tryed system update, and it cant install most of the lager installs (iTunes, Quicktime) but its still okay with small driver like files (java, itunes phone driver, etc.)

Does anyone have any idea what's causing this? or how I can fix it?

Thanks

iBook G4, 1.2 Ghz, AP, BT, 256MB, 30GB, Mac OS X (10.4.1)
