No. Apple has no provisions for tracing iPads by the serial number. You might want to report this to your local police force. There has to be a law against passing counterfeit money where you live. If nothing else, when you report the incident, and give the counterfeit money to the police - they may be able to track down the person passing the funny money around which may lead back to your iPad.

Yesterday a black guy bought my iPad mini after one hour I bought takeaway after we had dinner the takeaway phoned me said the money you paid for the food is fake then I checked all the money unfortunately all was fake the iPad not been register but I have the guys phone number which is on contract with 3 network so I phone 3 if they could give me the African guy's detail but they didn't help the 3 costumer serives said pass the phone number to police so they can track it but as usual polices in Manchester are useless they cing to take the fake money for finger printer so hopeful the African guy will be arrested .

Report to police along with serial number. Change all your passwords.

You actually want to GPS locate the device- that's what the iPad is using for mapping, for social networking, and a million other things.

Also I like Mr Numbers, but find the info on the phone you have for him. Who it's registered to, where that person lives, etc... Sounds like its a legit with a legit provider, this can also be used to easily locate the man.

Contact police ASAP, producing fake money is a big time crime.

Contact apple, you haven't sent the info over on the device yet, so it's still registered in their system to you. Have them assist in LoJack and locking it. It will be flagged as stolen as well in their system.

Log on to apple.com, click the support link, get in to your apple ID and you will have all your product info. The upside is the unit is under warranty and it doesn't sound like you transferred ownership with apple to him. This falls under end to end apple care. See what they can do to help.
