i have a clip that i would like to edit with FCPX, the clip according to MediaInfo is

Video: 704x480 (4:3), at 29.970 fps, MPEG Video (NTSC) (Version 2)(Main@Main)(BVOP)

Audio: 256 Kbps, 48.0 KHz, 16 bits, 2 channels, AC-3 (DVD-Video)

ID : 189 (0xBD)-128 (0x80)

Format : AC-3

Format/Info : Audio Coding 3

Mode extension : CM (complete main)

Format settings, Endianness : Big

Muxing mode : DVD-Video

Duration : 2mn 31s

Bit rate mode : Constant

Bit rate : 256 Kbps

Channel(s) : 2 channels

Channel positions : Front: L R

Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz

Bit depth : 16 bits

Compression mode : Lossy

Stream size : 4.62 MiB (6%)

the file plays fine in Quicktime player (video and audio)

but when I try to convert it with Compressor to a format FCPX will recognize (Prores or anything for that matter)

i don't get any audio. even in the preview window, the clip plays but no audio

according to inspector in Compressor, the audio track is recognized as

Linear PCM, 16 bit little-endian signed integer, 2 channels, 48000 Hz, Stereo (L R)

is there a trick to get AC-3 support ?

thanks in advance
