download movies from itunes store watch in a different country?

I plan on downloading a movie from the itunes store (Canada) to watch on my ipad mini so I can watch it when I am away from home (going cross border to the States)

will the store automatically change to the US store and will I still be able to watch my movie?

I don't download a lot of movies from the itunes store, so I am curious. Any help would be wonderful.
