I have just returned from overseas trip and I cant activate my iMessage it just keeps telling me it encountered an error try again

I have just been overseas and on my return home I cant activate imessage, it just keeps telling me an error occurred try again, and the it sit for ages "waiting for activation" not sure why it wont work.

iOS 5.1.1

I have just sorted it out by changing the time to the correct local time. I did this by setting time to automatic and it fixed it.
