Problems with Bootcamp

After boot camp froze during partion of HD for windows, HD is now smaller but bootcamp doesn't show a partioned drive. I did a Time Machine restore from the day before, once I did this certain apps will not launch: iphoto, itunes, facetime, iCal, & mail. The Finder has crashed a couple of times also. I then did a re-install of 10.8 via the internet but the apps still wouldn't open. I did a disk permissions repair, but problem still persists. Please help!

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work.

If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the grey Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal.

What method did you use for restoring from Time Machine? If you were restoring the system properly from the day before, everything would work fine. What you're describing sounds more like a migration and the apps are seeing version mismatches with OS X.

Also, how long did you give the partition? If your drive is particularly full, it can take a very long time to finish as Boot Camp moves files around to make a solid free space available for the partition.

If you look in Disk Utilties, does it show more than 1 partition for your main hard drive? Does it show any unallocated space?
