Q: iPad 3 or iPad 4?

I have just purchased from a reputable outlet, what i am told is an iPad 4.

However, if you look at the back of it, it has the same black band across the top as the 3 does. In any image i can find for the reverse of the iPad 4, it is all silver with no black band on it.

It does have the new lightning connector and not the old 30 pin, but the back of it is worrying me as to wether i have been stitched with a 3

Any help anyone can provide gratefully appreciated

As far as I know, all the 3's have the 30 pin, all the 4's the lightening connector.

I've never seen a three, but I'm not under the impression that any of them had a black band along the back. And since there are the different connectors I don't see how they could have even reused an old chassis since the charging port would be different.

Ok, when I look at the pictures, I wonder if that black bar along the top is an identifier between cellular vs non cellular?
