Bad quality music transfer from ipod to computer so I can move to iPhone

I have transferred music from my old iPod to my computer through Home Sharing thinking that was the proper method to be able to get all my old purchased music onto my new iPhone.

However, when I listen to the songs now on the computer that came over from the iPod the music is "skipping" during play - like an old scratched record. This does not occur when listening to the iPod as it was good quality when purchased and downloaded on the iPod.

I don't understand what happened during the transfer with the quality but do not want to transfer bad quality music to my iPhone and don't know if/how I can fix this?

Has anyone had this problem or does anyone know how to correct this?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!!
