Go look up your Receipt your purchased...

1. Your Iphone Box.. turn upside down you can see 2 different numbers..Imei and other..

2. But if you have already registered your iphone with Findmyphone apps then you can track lost..iphone

3. If u have a Mac go to Top left Apple logo or next logo Chrome or Finder press Preference you will get a new window which you can see your Apple products and you can see your register mobile on Itunes..your imei ..mobile no..etc etc

But do not delete or erase your iphone data from Preference or Itunes..if you erase you will never see your lost phone location blinking on FIND MY IPHONE

..I erase my data due to my Apple Pay...and I accidently erased my iphone link and other informs..given that Thief a good opportunity to reset and use my iphone..

Apple is not in the business of tracking lost or stolen devices. They provide you with the tools to do that yourself. Tracking by IMEI cannot be done by Apple, and law enforcement does not do it routinely for stolen phones. No other phone manufacturers will track your phone either, so your statement about "terrible services from Apple" is not unique.

The only way to locate any lost/stolen iPhone is through Find My Phone or a similar app. However, this requires that Find My Phone be setup/activated, on your phone, before it was lost/stolen. You would then login at iCloud.com & try to locate it. This requires the phone be turned on & have an Internet connection. There is no other way to locate a lost/stolen iPhone. Apple can't/won't help you, nor will your carrier. Report the loss to the Police, your carrier & Insurance company. Change all of your passwords.

it is ABSURD that we cant use the IMEI to brick and or locate the phone.

all legitimate owner should be able to manage them stolen or lost phones to any apple store or police station bringing a personal ID and the device invoice that proof the ownership of the device.

sorry but icloud is a very weak solution since anybody can reset the phone after being stolen.

Apple seems brilliant but actually also on this is not better then any other smartphones in security matters.

If you have iOS 7 on your phone and have enabled Find My iPhone, you've also enabled the Activation Lock. The phone can't be restored without your Apple ID password.

Apple wouldn't be able to track a phone by IMEI because that would require access to the Carriers' systems. Apple's access to those systems is limited, pretty much, to activating phones.

I agree surely I cant do it. but professional criminals can reset/flash the phone.

that is why I think apple and or the carrier should make a system that simply brick and unbrick the phone as sson it is connected with a new simcard by imei.

No, they can't. The activation lock effectively bricks the phone. The phone can be re-enabled by the rightful owner with a password. Activation lock does exactly what you're asking. It does require that you opt into it.
