its taking a very long time to see any progress with lownload. concerned about all of the problems listed in the discussions. staring to wonder if anyone is happy with ML.

Often when people are having problems there are other causes, such as hardware not completely compatible, strange setup and configuration, software that is not compatible, etc. Take your time installing and setting up ML and you should not have problems.
You don't say what computer system you are using so no specific tips to offer. Just set aside time that you will not be interrupted or trying to do two things at once. Installations have gone very hands-off, but I much prefer to babysit the machine and watch in case I need to do something.

That's because this is a tech support site. All the millions of folks who have no problems have no need to come here and probably don't even know these forums exist.

I like it a lot. Mountain Lion was installed on this MBA when I got it. I am crazy over the moon in love with this Mac 🙂
thx for your response. 6 1/2 hours into download right now....
After it DLs and before you install go to /Applications and make a copy of "Install OS X ML.app" and save it somewhere outside of /Applications. This is because it will "self-destruct" after install on restart, so if you ever want to use it again you can avoid the lengthy download.
