can not install windows 7 on the new partition

Started today to "install" windows 7 on my new mac mini with the latest OS version. All updates done and created the partition. Then it says to install windows 7 but had to first format the partition which went ok, but then error message that I can not install Windows. Now I got a HD with 300 GB and it is useless. How to get rid of it? How to get the 300 GB back. My hard drive has 1 TB.

Thanks for any answer.
