Trackpad and keyboard freeze

I have a Macbook Pro 2011 with OSX 10.7.5. When wake up, after it ran out of battery, the trackpad and keyboard are freeze and I have to restart the computer holding power button.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem - without ever having let it run out of battery. It's a new computer which I bought only a year ago. They fixed it twice now and it keeps happening. The phone support told me that I should just use an external keyboard and mouse from now on - thank you very much! That's exactly why I spent so much money on a laptop... Does anyone know whether this is really a hardware problem?

I have also noted this problem on my MBP 13" (late 2013). The internal diagnostics are normal. I happens sporatically in almost all apps and you cannot type or use the trackpad or external mice. It lasts about 5 to 8 seconds generally, but sometimes I have to force shutdown the computer to make it stop. I have not had apple look at the MBP yet, but this looks like it is not an uncommon problem.
