Should i put the speck clear case on my 13inch macbook pro retina?

I have read some reviews that it can cause more harm then good. I say this because i've read that dirt can get between the case and your computer and cause scratches! Whats the point of putting a case on the dam thing if its going to cause damage. Has anyone had any experience with the speck cases? I am very carefull with my computer and when travling to campus i put it in a case logic sleve, but i feel that i need a bit more protecton for this laptop.

I have the 15" MBP Retina and I also use the clear Speck case. I will start by saying this, everyone has an opinion about something and everyone isn't going to do it the same. I have been buying expensive Macs for years now and I always put some type of cover or case on them for protection. I have found that Speck makes the most secure and Apple-like accessories than anyone. The Speck retina cases are the best becasue they are very thin and add little to no bulk to the Mac. They did a great job making these cases thinner than the regular ones.

I have had no issues over the past few months with dirt being a problem, but you will get dirt particals under ALL cases. You should take your mac out of its case periodically to clean it just to ensure the dirtg doesn't cause issues. Thoes who have had issues apparently never took the mac out to clean them. Get the Speck; you will not be dissappointed. I sure love mine.

I know you ordered your case but my girlfriend and a few of my friends have speck cases and little rocks can get trapped inside and scratch the macbook. None have a retina though so not sure about that.... But what i was going to say was that if you know you are going to be careful with your laptop and wont drop it but you are scared about scratches, look into buying the invisible shield

Biggest issue with the portion of the cover that goes on the screen is that it weighs it down some and when you move the laptop back and forth on your lap, the extra weight actually causes the screen to change open position on you. This may not be an issue with the ones made for the Retina models, but everyone with a regular one complains about this. Even the ones made for the Air have the same issue. You'd think that they'd just make them thinner to keep this from happening, you don't need a ton of thickness to protect from basic damage.

Help me understand where people take $2000 - $3000 laptops that would cause rocks to get between it and the case? I have had six macs over the years and NEVER have I ever had a rock or anyhting else get in the case that would have damaged it. Macs are not meant to be laid on the ground or in the grass where such things could happen. if people put expensive computers in places where they don't belong then they cannot blame the case for not doing its job.

SwankPerfection said it better then I did. Sand particles get in the case and some are bigger than other, and those can scratch your macbook if they get in the wrong way. I would suggest not using it from what I have seen. and sand particles are found everywhere. You cant avoid dirt. I still say get the invisible shield. You will have no regrets if you are careful enough not to drop your laptop.

With the speck case you have to constantly clean it
