Scanning from networked HP Envy 100 using Image Capture. Images are going into a folder called 'scan results'. I cannot open the files, move them, or find them with spotlight. Any suggestions?

If you have the Show Details view selected in Image Capture, you can change which folder the document is being scanned to.
The documents are scanning into a 'Scan Results' folder regardless of which folder or application I choose in the show details window.
Sorry, I thought you meant that you could not find the scanned files when you mentioned Spotlight not finding them.
Where is this Scan Results folder located? I assume this folder was created by installed HP software, as it is not a default OS X folder. Could it be hard coded into the Envy to scan to this folder?
The Scan Results folder is an open window that floats with the Image Capture applications window. If I Quit Image Capture, the Scan Results window closes. All the documents in the Scan Results window disappear when the window closes. I cannot access any of the documents in the Scan Results window.
This problem appeared suddenly and unexplicibly out of the blue yesterday after I had scanned a document to the Mail Application. After that, the Scan Results window appeared and the scanned documents to not appear in any folder or application that I can identify. That is why I mentioned Spotlight - I tried to find the documents on my computer but Spotlight does not find the document anywhere on my computer.
I have tried using Spotlight both when the Scan Results window is open and after it is closed. Same result - Spotlight does not find the scanned documents on my computer.
Okay. I found the Scan Results window via the Image Capture menu. I've never used that view before but I can now set it.
When I scan a document, it shows the file name I have set in Image Capture in the Scan Results window. To the right of the name is a magnifying glass icon (enclosed in red square below). When you click this icon it shows where the file is saved to. Do you have this icon and does this work for you?
That is the window that I am referring to. The names of the scanned documents appears in that windown with the magnifying glass icon beside each document name. I have the icon. I have clicked on the icon and get nothing.
You might try using Preview to scan images instead of Image Capture. This uses the same core frameworks for scanning so the controls are the same, and you should be able to immediately see the scan results and save them where you would like. The scan option is in the File menu and can likewise use the networked scanner as the scanning device.
With the Show Details view selected in Image Capture, what folder is the Scan To menu set to?
Have tried using Preview with same result.
I have tried every option in the Scan To drop down menu. Result is the same with every folder and application option listed.
As a test, I would connect the HP to the Mac via USB to see if the same symptom prevails.
