I own a Dual 2.5GHz Power Mac G5 with a problem of rejecting all blank DVD+R discs but it accepts a retail DVD and a Mac OSX 10.4 DVD-DL. It sometimes rejects even a DL disc once in a while.

Old drive + old firmware + new or cheap media = incompatibility
What is your drive?
What media are you trying to use?
Also, OS X doesn't equally support DL media.
With DL media, OS X 10.4x supports burning to DVD+R DL, but not DVD-R DL.
OS X 10.5x Leopard supports burning to DVD-R DL, but doesn't support DVD+R DL.
I attached a screenshot of the specs, I am trying to use DVD+R DL and DVD+R blanks. I put in a DVD+R DL with 10.4 on it and it read but the 10.5 DVD fails to read.
I made a new copy of the DVD and it worked! Problem solved
