How to check Firewire port and connection?

I've got TC Konnekt 24D firewire audio interface. It is after service and works. iMac tells '

Warning: Unable to list FireWire devices.
Maximum Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec

I've read all related threads in Apple Forums/TC Forums, made everything with no success. It seems FW-port is good and 24D is good. Why iMac can't see it? I did SMC, turn off iMac for 1+ hours, etc. etc. I use FW 9pin-to-6pin cable.

How to check connection / port?

My config:

iMac 24" (alu) Mac OS X 10.5.8, 2.66 Intel Core 2 Duo, 4Gb 1067 Mhz RAM, 600Gb HDD

TC Konnekt 24D with TC NEAR CONTROL PANEL 2.5.1 f3598

iMac (24-inch Early 2009), Mac OS X (10.5.8)

I've bought Konnekt used on Ebay and, as it didn't work ('Unable to list FireWire devices'), I brought device to the TC Service, where FW chip was changed and a service guy demonstrated me my working 24D under Windows (they have no Mac at that moment). I don't have any other FW devices and never had besides Konnekt.

When I turn iMac on with disconnected FW-cable, I get Console message:

"kernel FireWire (OHCI) Lucent ID 5901 built-in now active, GUID 0023dffffe91c5e6; max speed s800".
Looks like FW-chip is OK.

When I connect FW-cable, and then turn iMac on, I read:

"kernel FireWire (OHCI) Lucent ID 5901 built-in: no valid selfIDs for more than 3 minutes after bus reset".

My Konnekt 24D is after Authorized Service and does working.

Other than to run the Apple Hardware Test to see if it reports anything http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509

Try another FireWire device, which you don't have, or take your Mac tithe nearest Apple Store for a check up I don't know what to tell you. When reset the SMC did you disconnect everything from the back of your iMac? If not, try he procedure again, this time disconnect everything

Shut down the computer.

Unplug the computer's power cord.

Wait fifteen seconds.

Attach the computer's power cord.

Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.

The story continues:

- I've updated OS X to 10.6.8
- TC Electronic sent me (thx!) a FW-adaptor 9pin-to-6pin 800/400
Still no success.

No other FW devices besides D24.

Any idea what to do?
