power issue on macbook pro

good morning,

I have a MacBook Pro 13" laptop, latrst generation, purchased new 12/12. All has been well until last night when I noted that the sleep light was off and there was only a weak flutter on the mag safe power connector. I tried to power up the laptop from the power button with negative results. I then unplugged the power adapter both from the computer and from the power source. The power strip is fully functional and supplying power to a lamp and my IPhone charger. I tried moving to another live outlet, re-connected and got the same weak flutter on the magsafe charging head. I then tried to see hoe much power i had on my battery. Zero, zip, nada...the battery is COMPLETELY drained. I cannot even get the computer to power up to do a SMC reset.

The computer is normally left connected to the power adapter on my desk, and will normally show 99-100% charge when I wake it. I have no idea what happened, if anything, or how to restart. Any suggestions?

Only one and that is to take it to an Apple store G bar to be checked out, Fixed or Replaced.

Thanks for the response.I have no problem taking it in, but going from live to dead in hours is a pretty strong pronouncement. Im hpoping this is not the case, although i am fully warranted.

Well, you were correct; my Mac is DEAD. I left it at the Apple store and they are looking into it...maybe a fried mag safe or even a logic board. I'll know on 3-5 days. Thanks for your help.

Got notification this AM that the computer had been repaired and ready for pick up. The Mag Safe board had fried and been replaced, correcting all issues. Apparently, the battery had not drained; it just could not communicate with the fried board. Thank you all for your assistance.
