Cannot find mobilesync folder on my mac os

I've backed up my iphone several times and followed instructions on finding the sms backup files but cannot find the mobilesync folder for the life of me... It is simply not there it appears, not under the only user on the mac (both user name and the "shared") or in general Library folder...

Attached is a screenshot of the folders. Any ideas..?

Thanks for any help you can offer, I'm fairly novice Mac user having used PC's most of my life 🙂 User uploaded file

What the so called experts in this thread dont tell you, is how to easily find the hidden Library folder.

Open Finder window, choose GO on the menu bar, so you can see the submenus, then hold down the alt/option button, a new menu button will appear called Library, toggle the alt key while the GO submeny to notice where it is, from there its all straight forward 🙂

Thank you, although I managed to find the first folders it did not occur to me that for some unbenowknst reason the "Library" folder would be hidden by default under the user..

Then when I attempted to use a program to view the files now that I found where they are I could not reach em again because the pop up box does not have an option to "go to folder" to type in command, and I was unable to find a way to "unhidden" the Library folder.. Worked a hack by just copying the needed files to a different unhidden folder but as a regular PC user I gotta say I'm a bit dissapointed - I feel I should not have had to flex my computer muscles that much to find and open an existing file...

But THANK YOU for your help.

Yo 'nycetouch'

In my perspective, I beleieve you are opening the Finder App from your Dock and seraching for /Users/<your user name>/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup

Its imperative that you should be seraching in the GO option on the top.

If you are not able to find GO on the top. Quit all the opened applications to find the GO

or

Doulbe tap or double left click into the Desktop screen to find GO

Under GO click on Go to Folder, in that paste

/Users/<your user name>/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup

In my case,

/Users/Boo/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup.

It took me a while to find the GO option. I must work. Im eager to know how you are going.

JimHDK,

You are a life saver. Your instructions were really helpful.

Thanks again mate!!

Hi nycetouch,

I tried your instructions but I got a msg that stated could not find file. I checked my user name in prefernces so I was entering the right one. I ended up changing my user name to shorten it and it still did not work. Please help anyone. I'm trying to sync my Iphone5 to an old restore and im getting a corrupt or incompatible error. Thanks for all your help.

I did find a solution as well:

Make sure that your old phone and your new phone are both using the latest version of iOS. I am a beta tester and spent a whole day trying every fix in the book until it occurred to me that my old phone was more up to date than my new phone. One I put the latest version of software on both phones, it worked like a charm.

This is still actually extremely unhelpful. First of all, no one ever describes where to actually find the GO menu. Is that using the keys command, shift, and G? It's never clear where to find it.

Second of all. I did find the library folder and clicked on the Applicant Support folder but after backing up my phone, the MobileSync folder does not exist. It is not within the Applicant Support folder at all. I have no idea where to find it.
