i was planning to go to the apple store to get a new ipod but i was asking can i try the macbook pro at the store on the tables

Well, no one here works for Apple but, in all the Apple Stores I've visited, the demo units are set up for normal use (not locked in demo mode) so you should be able to experiment with real apps with an Apple employee there to answer questions.
