Hello Can anyone offer step by step instructions. How do I export a custom ringtone I uploaded to itunes to my iphone 3GS? I appreciate the kind assistance.

sync your phone to itunes.

Plug your phone to your computer - open itunes - and itunes should sync that info over

I plugged my phone into my computer. Then opened tunes. Now maybe I should mention that the audio file is sitting under songs on my music list. Does the file need to be eslewhere and if so how do I move the file?

Thank you for the excellent help thus far. When I get to step 11 am I clicking on the newly created file? When I do that it ask me if I want to delete file. Then I do not see a keep files button? Please continue to offer great help!
Are you creating another ringtone or the one you already created?
I followed the steps and it created a new file. I clicked on the create AAC version and a new file showed up in my playlist.
ok I got through the delete and keep file. I found the file under music, but there is no extension after the song name. Just has song name. Do I add the m4r after the song name?
Yes, you would have to rename the file to m4r - the file should be on your computer not itunes, once you've made the change, then play the ringtone and it will be placed in under tones in itunes.
Okay, almost done, but still clueless...lol...The song now shows up as an m4r file under itunes, but clearly I am not syncing correctly.I've plugged into bottom of phone and other end into usb port. I wonder, I see the m4r file under music and playlist. Is that in the correct place as you referred to it as tones....what is tones as I do not see that label

Are you trying to use the whole song as a ringtone?
If you are you can't.
The ringtone has to be 30 seconds or less.
