OS X 10.4.11 (8S2167) to Lion

I am looking to update the OS on my old Macbook that is currently running Mac OS X 10.4.11 (8S2167). I am looking for the cheapest way to get to the latest OS Lion. Please provide the steps needed to proceed. Thank you for your help.

Purchase a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store, phone them, and order a download code for Lion 10.7.


Lion requires a Mac with a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) or better CPU and at least 2GB of RAM.
