Network cluster export not working

I am trying to transcode a prores file into a web freindly format, and trying to utilise the processing power of our work's mac pro over the network. I create the job on my iMac, submit it through compressor using 'this computer plus' checked, and when I open the share monitor and look at the individual threads processing on the mac pro, no progress is made and the export never finishes... even when I cancel through the share monitor the job just hangs and stays there forever on 'cancelling'. We have gigabit ethernet, so I don't think it is a network latency issue. Anyone else suffering from this? I can provide more information if it will help.
