Since iTunes 11.0.2, iTunes doesn't show the option to "delete" a song any more, it says "do you want to hide the item" instead.
Is the functionality still the same?
I really want to delete a couple of songs, so I can adjust the informations of the songs locally and re-upload them to the cloud then.
If you change the information associated with the song and then go to Store>Update iTunes Match, the changes should be updated in iTunes Match, as well as your devices (although sometimes there is a bit of a delay before you see the update). You shouldn't need to delete the song to do this.
Okay, thanks that solved my questin partially.
Now the songs are named correctly in iTunes. But on my iPhone they're still wrong. I checked it by looking at "On this iPhone" when the phone is connected to my mac, and I saw a couple of songs greyed out with a little circle left to the title. When I try to delete the songs, they come back when I disconnect and reconnect my phone. How do I delete them forever?
You may have to delete all the music on your phone to remove these grayed out songs. To do this, go to Settings>iTunes & App Stores and turn off iTunes Match. Then go to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipe across All Music and tap Delete. Open the Music app and confirm that all the music is now gone, then go back and turn iTunes Match back on.
I already tried that. I have iTunes Match turned off all the time, I just turned it on once to download a couple of songs additionally, and it seems like these are the grayed out songs, at least a couple of them.
Well, deleting all the music didn't help, even if I rebooted the phone after deleting.
I also already tried downloading the songs again hoping it would replace the grayed out ones but it didn't work. Deleting by managing music manually didn't help either.
There are lots of discussions on grayed out songs you could look through by searching, like this one: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3747155?start=0&tstart=0. Solutions vary; perhaps you'll find one that will work for your situation.
I already viewed these, but it's not the same problem. I don't even see the songs in the music app on my iPhone, only in iTunes. It's like it only saved the information of these songs but not the song itself so for some reason I can't delete it.
Look at the screenshot, these are the gray songs I mean, and this are the only place where I can the see them (iTunes -> iPhone -> On This iPhone)
I've seen that before. My understanding is that it means that these songs are waiting to sync, perhaps because they failed to download earlier in iTunes Match. Don't know what the solution is, but if you have already done so, try turning on iTunes Match again and see if that clears things up.
didn't work unfortunately. seemingly it got worse and itunes ignores the concerned songs for sync now.
This is a tough one. I seem to recall one user that said deleting the songs from their iTunes library, syncing, then importing them back and syncing again solved the problem for them but I might be remembering this wrong.
You also might try posting this question over in the iTunes forum. They may have some ideas over there.
So does this work for artwork too? I've corrupt artwork on several albums and when i download correct ones they change back to the corrupt ones thats stored in the cloud
It's supposed to, but I've had to turn off iTunes Match on all my devices including my computers, then turn it back on on my computer, let it re-scan my library, then tun it back on on my iOS devices again to get the changes to stick.
