I already own the track why is it in the cloud

I already own the track why is it in the cloud, after updating to itunes some of the songs that were on my mac which i could play, and have purchased, therefore is mine not apples, why is the cloud next to my track and it wont play unless i am connected to internet.

Basically apple have stolen my purchases.

this better get resolved i am furious and was always hesitant at upgrades but this had good reviews.
