Using Mountain Lion's bundled (out-of-the-box; free) version of QuickTime, is there a set time limit to a single screen capture recording?
Specifically, I want to press record and have it screen record 30 to 60 mins of continuos video. Is this possible as long as I have plenty of hard drive space?

You'll see the file size in the recording window as well as the duration.
Run a one minute "test" recording using various display resolutions to get an idea of how things will look. You can record at a smaller display size (System Preferences) and set the final size after the capture is complete.

QuickTime 10.2 can capture just a portion of the screen to help keep the file size down.
